Fostering Success Michigan builds a statewide network that connects youth with foster care experience to education, opportunity, and support—transforming educational and career outcomes across Michigan.
Karie Rozen serves as the Executive Director of Fostering Success Michigan, a statewide collective impact initiative.
I started working at FSM as an intern and graduate assistant while attending Western Michigan University for my Master’s Degree in Social Work in 2013, just a year after FSM began! Following graduation, I was hired to focus on program coordination and funding development. I have led FSM through two significant organizational transitions since 2021 and continue to be committed to this work in the future.
I have been told I am “the glue” that holds things together. In Collective Impact, the backbone organization is also described that way, so I feel like I am a good fit to lead FSM! Leading this statewide initiative has required a long list of skills that I never thought I would need, including webinar producer, podcaster, event planner, fundraiser, date collector, and more! I believe that systems are always changing and in flux, so it’s important that I stay open to building new skills in order to pivot work to continuously address challenges faced by our students with experience in foster care.
